Transparency Policy

Last Updated: April 4, 2025

1. Ownership & Funding

This blog is independently run by Daniel Sisk, who handles both the technical and editorial aspects. As of the date above, all funding comes directly out of pocket. There are no affiliations with corporations, political entities, or nonprofit organizations.

Any revenue—whether from ads, donations, or other sources—is used to cover hosting expenses. If any surplus funds remain, their allocation will be disclosed in an annual transparency report, typically released in early May.

2. Editorial Control & Policies

All editorial decisions, policies, and any changes to them are made solely by the owner. Any updates to policies will be noted in the annual transparency report.

Financial contributors, including advertisers, have no say in editorial choices or policy-making. However, clearly marked sponsored content may be published, always kept separate from independent reporting.

3. Fact-Checking & Sources

Whenever possible, original sources—such as direct interviews and public records—are prioritized. Independent verification is used when necessary.

Interviews are recorded or transcribed (with permission), and third-party statistics or reports are always cited with links or proper references.

For high-stakes topics, a second review is encouraged before publication. In some cases, feedback may be sought from an informal advisory group chosen by the editor.

4. Corrections & Accountability

Mistakes happen. When they do, they’ll be corrected openly.

  • Articles that need corrections will be updated, with a notice attached at the end.
  • If an error significantly alters the article’s core message, the headline or introduction may also be adjusted.
  • Readers can submit correction requests via email.
  • Major corrections will be recorded in the transparency log.

5. Conflicts of Interest

Writers and contributors must disclose affiliations related to their submissions.

If a contributor has a specific affiliation related to a topic, this must be made clear both to the editor and within the article or contributor’s bio.

The editor must reserve the right to decline an article if a conflict of interest is deemed problematic.

6. Reader Engagement & Feedback

Comments are welcome and encouraged, but moderation is in place.

  • Hate speech, spam, and off-topic comments may be removed.
  • Users engaging in repeated violations may be banned. All admin/mod actions recorded in the transparency log.

Responding to Feedback

Readers can provide feedback via email or comments. Valid criticisms and corrections will be acknowledged, though the editor retains discretion over responses.

Each year, a transparency report will be published in May, covering:

  • Financial disclosures
  • Policy changes
  • Major corrections
  • Moderation actions
  • General reflections on engagement and community trends
