Weekend Roundup

Weekend Roundup 4/11/25

Have you made your weekend plans? If you want to do more than veg out this weekend (or not, no judgment here!), the Good News Neighbor has some awesome suggestions in our first Weekend Roundup. This article includes no paid promotions, just plain good ideas.

On Friday, we suggest spending the rainy afternoon going to get a wine tasting at Marion Wines. New seasonal hours are Thursday & Friday 1pm-7pm and Saturday 11am-5pm.

For those 21 and older, The Heathens Den in the Miller Complex, Burnt Reputation, an acoustic rock duo out of Asheville, will have their debut performance, playing both covers and originals. Get out there and support local music!

Mica Town Brewing’s Marion taproom’s pop-up dive bar will host a Talladega Nights theme night called SHAKE AND BAKE! Throw on your NASCAR tee that’s just a little too small, your Dale Sr. hat, and get ready to start your engines, you big hairy American winning machines! Open 8pm-midnight.

We have an action packed Saturday! You’re rich for options!

On Saturday from 1pm-3pm, Marion East Community will be hosting a Spring Egg Hunt on the Peavine Trail for families with children aged one to ten years. Don’t forget to bring the Easter baskets! Keep your eye out for the golden egg for a special prize, but the real treasure is the awesome activities including face-painting, egg decorating, games, and more! The best part? This event is fun, family-friendly, and free! How’s that for a no-brainer?

Silver Fork Winery will be featuring ALMOST VINTAGE, playing rock classics with a folk vibe starting at 2PM. Catch some grub at Mama T’s Rolling Snack Shack, a food truck that will be on the winery grounds.

If that’s not your scene, guests 21 and over are invited to join Mica Town Brewing for another High Dive banger, this time with High Class emblems such as rhinestones, truckers hat, and that little black dress with combat boots. Celebrate the gaudy, the chaotic, and the beautiful 8pm-midnight.

Also on Saturday, Camp Grimes will be having their Spring fundraiser. You will need to pre-purchase tickets which are still available as of the publication of this article. Proceeds go towards the summer camp scholarships and camper activities, not to mention the tickets are packed with awesome value. Toe-tap to live music by Sun of Stars, a bluegrass group that blends traditional and contemporary sound to seriously jammy results. Food and drink will also be on site, including Euda Wine and Appalachian Mountain Brewery. The fundraiser will also host a silent auction with 20 items including a two-night getaway to Charleston, a fly fishing trip, and tons of other goodies.

On Sunday, Rutherford Outdoor Coalition will co-host a Helene clean up along the Upper Broad River, four miles out of Lake Lure. The cleanup will be 1pm-5pm. Click here to register and review the details.

It is always advisable to check the forecast and confirm the details with the host before attending any event!
